Toy 06:24
Find myself in a dream, Everything's blown out of this world. "Christian, don't you fear; Everything is not what it appears." It's alright for you, you're cosy and warm, But look at me, I'm out in the cold; No more worship on Sunday, We'll see who's the toy. I was arrogant and calm, So strong and full of life that nothing could do me harm; So when my friendships fell away, It knocked me out, that was it with God, I'm a toy that He can't play with. Look who's wrong again; You've shown me all I wanted to know. I thought I could live without You, it seems that it's a lie: You mean more than all those people to me, Because in my hour of loneliness, You came here by my side, Always by my side.
2.
Carefree days with laughter filled, Memories strong that time won't kill; Hold them in your mind, the dreams are stronger still. Life-long ties were shattered when She came along, it started then. Does it have to end? Time to lose a friend. Do we miss you now? Do we miss you now? Do we miss you now? Shall we catch you when you fall? When she crushed your world did you look for us all? Believe it in the end, It's never time to lose a friend.

The Rope 05:56
Do you ever feel you need a hand? Do you ever think you'll understand? You never needed anybody to care, You never needed anyone there. You were given a rope and you took it with a smile, You've been tying the knot and your noose hangs by; You never thought it was that easy to die But no-one stops you from making the tie. And time runs out for you, And how can I get through? Don't you feel it when you're living life alone? You'll never cut it if you keep your heart of stone. But you can turn people's faces just by walking in the room, Live the way you want to, make others play your tune, So you cannot see the reason why it all should end so soon For you. And time runs out for you, How can I, how can I get through?

about

Ah, the innocence and naivety of youth! This is the third and final EP from Songs of the Past. These are songs that were written a long, long time ago in my teens and twenties.

The song-writer has a catalogue of many songs. Some are just memories, others all but forgotten. But a few stay. They are not necessarily the best songs, but they have remained – always accessible, often silently played in the mind. They are part of him.

Over the past few months I have attempted to record those songs of mine, as true to how I have always heard them in my head.

The complete album: 'Songs of the Past', including all 3 EPs, will be available in the new year either as a download or as a CD which can be pre-ordered by contacting Nev at chesterandnev@msn.com
