The night before won't stay with me too long, Another taste for life will soon be strong, The subtle sounds that whisper in my head, The day belongs to someone else instead. And my life is yet undone, Is there hope for things to come? Should I wait until tomorrow? Welcome to today. The light inside has never burned away, The truth I heard before has always stayed. I can't forget the words that gave me peace, Forever you will be with me. And the more I feel this way, Should I wait another day To complete the outward journey? Is it time to start to turn, Another life begin to learn, Where there's hope to face tomorrow? Welcome to today. The voice inside gets louder all the time, The promise of a future can be mine. Now I see a life ahead, For you have raised me from the dead, You have torn the final curtain. A life of purpose, not of shame, For you have called me by your name, I know your destiny is certain. And my life is not yet done, I have hope for things to come, As I see into tomorrow, Welcome to today.

All that captures my heart, All that tears me apart, All I think about is you. Fear of losing your love, Fear I can't get enough, All I think about is you. Dreams they cannot really hide, Dreams are so alone. I don't hear you talking, I don't hear the crying, All I think about is you. Every time I hear your name, Every time increase the pain 'cos, All I think about is you. Dreams they cannot really hide, Dreams are so afraid, But if my life is to survive, The dream must live today. Even now I listen for you, Even now I'm looking for you, All I think about is you. All my strength is slipping, All I am is falling, All I think about is you. Dreams they cannot really hide, Dreams they're so alone, But I need you to survive, Come back to me today.

I called, you answered, I fell at your feet, When you smiled the skies cleared then, I caught on fire, in love with the heat. And we walked by a river to a garden with a wall, But no way in, I turn round to ask you; You can't have left me, I take the fall. Don't leave me here outside your garden, Don't leave me here outside your wall, Don't leave me here outside your garden, Don't leave me here at all. Tirelessly I search then, through a crack the garden I see, You are there alone with the beauty, With no-one to share it, please share it with me. So I find that you are the gateway, Only with you can I enter the scene, No other way is open before me, You and you only could break through the screen.

Why Worry? 03:09
Why worry now? Can't you see as you're lying in bed I am there standing next to your head? You don't believe me, don't you trust me now? Come to me then you won't be afraid, Let my love come and fill you instead. Leave it now, 'cos it's gone, gone, gone, gone; Taking all your troubles away, And she's gone, gone, gone, gone, gone; Loving an illusion today. See, you need me now, You're feeling sad and the hurting sustains, I can see what is lost to your heart. But can you see me? Can't you feel me now? I can heal where the blood really flows, Turn your pain into gladness again. Leave it now, she's gone, gone, gone, gone; You're loving an illusion today, And it's gone, gone, gone, gone, gone, Taking all your troubles away. She's gone, gone, gone, gone, Never let her hurt you again.

Carefree days with laughter filled, Memories strong that time won't kill, Hold them in your mind, the dreams are stronger still. Life-long ties were shattered when She came along, it started then, Does it have to end? Time to lose a friend. Do we miss you now? Do we miss you now? Do we miss you now? Shall we catch you when you fall? When she crushed your world did you look for us all? Believe it in the end It's never time to lose a friend.

I see the shadows came to stay, Maybe we've moved ourselves away today. Can I hold you close to me one last time? But as the mood turns to brown, Then there'll be no-one around, And as the tide disappears, I believe we're here. Could I keep the rain from falling still? Yes, if you'd trust in me, I will. You'll see, I don't care. I think that you were afraid, And I see no-one today, But as the dream turns away, I believe we're here. The afterlife is in my way, Could I ever watch the hope fade from me today? In time we'll see who was the fool. But as your life begins to fade, And your hair turns to grey, And the fire in your eyes is burning out, Will your friends still be there? Or is there no-one to care, Stealing away from your time? Because the guilt holds you down, You'll find that darkness surrounds, But on the day that you die You'll remember me.

Toy 06:24
Find myself in a dream, Everything's blown out of this world; "Christian, don't you fear, All of this is not what it appears." It's alright for you, you're cosy and warm, But look at me, I'm out in the cold; No more worship on Sunday, We'll see who's the toy. I was arrogant and calm, So strong and full of life, nothing could do me harm; So when my friendships fell away, It knocked me out, that was it with God: I'm a toy that He can't play with. Look who's wrong again; You've shown me all I wanted to know; I thought I could live without You, it seems that it's a lie, You mean more than all those people to me. Because in my hour of loneliness, You came here by my side, Always by my side.

Talk To Me 03:56
Maybe I just don't care if I got in your hair, If I got under your skin, you know. I worry about it all the time: if I got in your mind, If I got into your thoughts, you know. I've been thinking about what you said when I got in your head, Is it madness or hope you feel? I worry about it all the same, never know who's to blame, Never know how I should make you feel. Don't think you passed me by, I'll run before I walk before I go. Don't think you passed me by, I showed you how to make it on your own. But I wanted to talk to you, But you didn't really care if my words were still not there. Talk to me, talk to me. I will never stand in your way, though I worry about it night and day, If you ever tried breaking free. I know it's not who you are but the way you act is really bizarre, Can't you see what you're doing to me? Won't you see? Don't think you passed me by, I'll run before I walk before I go. Don't think you passed me by, I showed you how to make it on your own, Let's see how you make it on your own.

And who you are is now and who you are is crazy, And who you are is: Little bits of love but the commitment gets you down, I know you've been around, Even in the morning when you turn and say it's over, "I'm sorry about the clown!" And nine times out of ten you'll try to blame another, You'll try to blame the Man who tried to stop you when he saw it all go wrong, He saw it all along, Hope he will forgive you when the Time-Man says it's over, I'm told, even when you're sorry you just cannot slip away, Say it'll be ok, Laugh at what is happening as you turn and tell the Master, "Sorry about the clown." And who you are is now and who you are is crazy, And who you are is: Living for the music but the working gets you down, That's something we all have found, Life is such a nightmare you can wake me when it's over, I know, losing every moment you just cannot throw away, When will you save the day? Counting down the hours when you stop and there is no more, "Sorry about the clown."

People I don't want to cry anymore, People I don't seem to die anymore; Leaving all the hours I spent with my own dreams, I don't sleep with myself. Time after time when you called, I wouldn't answer, But time can't be passed on my own; open the door. Painting a solitary picture of my own world, It's an old world with myself. Dancing around to my own tune, But the writing was there on the wall, Telling me what my next steps were, But I only saw nothing at all. Stumbling around for a partner, I am drawn to the end of the hall And I'm feeling you dragging me closer, Myself.

Watch Out! 03:58
Watch out! Here I go again, my heart is on the run; And here, here I am again, it's a table just for one. And I wasn't so alone since I heard the river flows. At night, fear returns again, all that is not mine; The quiet and the loneliness, no-one hears the cries. And I wasn't so afraid when I heard you are my friend, And I wasn't so alone since I heard the river flows. If I, I'm losing track again, hold me in your arms 'till I, I'm feeling strong again, shelter me from harm. And I couldn't stand the loss if I looked the other way, There can never be a doubt this is more than just today, And I wasn't so alone since I heard the river flows. Light shine down!

The Rope 05:56
Do you ever feel you need a hand? Do you ever feel you'll understand? You never needed anybody to care, You never needed anyone there. You were given a rope and you took it with a smile, You've been tying the knot and your noose hangs by, You never thought it was that easy to die, But no-one stops you from making the tie. And time runs out for you, And how can I get through? Don't you feel it when you're living life alone? You'll never cut it if you keep your heart of stone. But you can turn people's faces just by walking in the room, Live the way you want to, make others play your tune, So you cannot see the reason why it all should end so soon for you. And time runs out for you, How can I, how can I get through?

about

The song-writer has a catalogue of many songs. Some are just memories, others all but forgotten. But a few stay. They are not necessarily the best songs, but they have remained – always accessible, often silently played in the mind. They are part of him.

Over the past few months I have attempted to record those songs of mine, as true to how I have always heard them in my head.

If you prefer to own something physical - you can order the CD for £10 (including P&P) payable via Paypal to chesterandnev@msn.com and email me with a delivery address
